The Namib Desert

Located on the coast of southwestern Africa (Namibia), the Namib is one of the cold deserts of the world. It is also one of the oldest! The Namib is home to the tallest sand dunes found on earth. It is also home to many precious gemstones.

The Namib Desert is a coastal desert. The weather and climate are effected by the Atlantic Ocean. So, unlike in other deserts, fog and mist are seen in this area ... but no rain!
