The Power
Plan
In
keeping with the core beliefs of The Curriculum Store, Inc., the lesson
suggestions found on the site have been developed using a lesson model that
covers a variety of learning styles.
Each
full lesson or theme contains suggestions that allow for an even mixture
of active participation and individual research. Most of the lessons will
offer several suggestions and resources from which to choose. Simply choose
those that are best for the population you are working with.
The
layout follows the acronym POWER (as in "Knowledge is...")!

|
PREPARE:
This step is designed to hook your students.
It's the point of buy-in the relevancy tie. Look for active
participation activities like science experiments/demonstrations,
polls, and games. You will notice that many of the suggested activities
will take place away from the computer.

|
OPEN
THE DOOR:
This
is where you will find suggestions for the elements of direct instruction
or personal research. The components in this section are often teacher
initiated, but student driven. Our goal here is to provide information
in order to facilitate discovery. |

|
|
WALK
THROUGH:
In the world of
stage and screen, a walk through is an intense practice before the
actual performance. It's no different here. These activities allow
students to really dig into the subject at hand before their learning
is formally evaluated. |
| |
|
|
EVALUATE:
Each
resource contains both formal and informal evaluation suggestions.
Assessment ideas that can be used both during and at the conclusion
of each topic or theme are included in each resource. |
| |
|
|
RESOURCES
& REINFORCEMENT:
In
this section, you will find books, links, reproducibles, and other
helpful tools pertaining to the particular theme or topic with which
you are working. |
