Minds ON!

Minds ON! is an online learning community. All
Minds ON! materials are designed to promote active participation
with technology and learning.
Students can visit Minds ON! to
explore whole themes or pick a topic and explore a specific idea. The
content focus and pace of learning are driven by the learner ... not the
technology!
Teachers will find Minds ON!
materials in The Teacher Files menu.
Minds ON! contains two types of resources: Themes and Short
Stuff topics. The content list is generated by the needs of students
and educators. Chosen themes and topics meet one or more of the following
criteria:
- There is a current need for resources on the theme/topic.
- The theme/topic is a commonly taught.
- The theme/topic is of high interest to students.
Theme topics
provide students with an overall picture of a topic or concept. Although
content will vary by subject, theme resources include:
- informational text, graphics, and animation
- journal assignments (appropriate for informal assessment)
- student activities
- hands-on activities
- resource materials for both teacher AND student
- formal assessments (teacher area)
- lesson plans and ideas (teacher area)
Short Stuff
topics allow learners to focus on a specific skill or concept.
Each topic contains:
- informational text, graphics, and animation
- journal assignments (appropriate for informal assessment)
- student activities
- hands-on activities
- formal assessments (teacher area)
- lesson plans and ideas (teacher area)
